Moving is Not For Me (Is It For You?)

Dec 21 2011 Published by under home improvement

I have seen a lot of friends here in Chicago try to move without hiring Chicago Movers and I think it is a bad idea every time. Maybe some people are able to do it but from everything I have seen, moving is a draining, stressful disaster that is not really meant to be a do it yourself affair. Here is why.

First, think about the number of considerations that go into moving. There is a lot more than just getting a truck and some boxes, though that is a big hassle in its own right – and costly. But you need specialized materials including bubble wrap, furniture pads, ropes and bungees, the list just goes on. Plus you have to figure out what size truck you will need, how many helpers to ask, how to repay them (dinner – what does that cost?), how long this will all take – and what do you do if it runs long or there is not enough space in the truck? Are your friends just supposed to stick it out for a second run?

That is the physical side. But think also of the emotional side. Moving involves a lot of stress. It is mentally taxing because there are so many factors to plan around. On top of that, you are likely to see some of your things damaged or not treated the way you would like. You may not feel in control as your friends handle your belongings, which can lead to lashing out at them.

All in all, moving is just one of those things where it is better to hire professional Chicago Movers. It will make a big difference in your quality of life.

Things which may mean you need a New Printer

Dec 19 2011 Published by under Technology

Who doesn’t do a lot of printing these days? At home, and when I’m home for the holidays as well, my parents still yell at my siblings for printing out directions rather than just writing them down. Offices, churches, homes, schools… the amount of ink we go through is incredible. It also often means that quality suffers for quantity.

Back when I was in college I can remember numerous occasions where the printers would be out of ink for days at a time. Paper is easy to replace, but the toner was just above the level of the student helpers and sometimes even the ones who did know how to pop out a Samsung Toner cartridge would just shrug and say that you can still read it. But maybe I wanted my term paper to look as good as it was written? Supposedly at least….

If you experience quality issues in your own printing the first thing you should do is activate a self check program in the printer. These can be tricky to find but cleaning out the nozzle should make it work better. Sometimes too you may have a bad ink cartridge, especially if you’ve been using non OEM cartridges. These often leave lines or streaks. If your printer is printing off center you want to run the calibration page and scan it back in if possible.

However, if your printer no longer turns on consistently, won’t accept data, or begins leaving long blank patches in the text even with a new cartridge, you may want to invest in something new.
